Welcome to Emma Flowers Music
I am someone who came late into songwriting; but rather than regret all the lost years, I plan to make every day I have full of music.
Music is a wonderful way to express your hopes, fears-even anger about the world we live in.
I have seen a lot, and my writing reflects that.
My songs can't change the world, but they help me to come to terms with it, but also to make music that people enjoy
We all seem to need labels don't we?
Ok, I'm a country/blues singer-songwriter, born in the wrong place to be a country artist, but the right place to write songs that reflect the struggle of ordinary people, their lives, their dreams and their tragedies.
I write songs because I have to. Its the only way I can deal with the craziness of a world of such inequality and unfairness.
Although the lyrics should be meaningful in differing ways, and the melodies should make you want to sing them and dance to them too.
Like all of us, I am far from perfect, but so is the world we live in.
Maybe we can do something really small to make things better?
To say these songs mean a lot to me is an understatement. I chose to put them together because they fit together and are different to many of the songs I write.
We live in times vastly different to those of our forebears, and yet we have the same struggles. We then have the added stress of constantly worrying about the future, which previous generations didn’t have the opportunity to.
Add in the struggles with mental health that many of us experience, you wonder how much rosier the picture is now.
These songs link the past, our imperfect present, and the fact that the future is yet to be written. We can rewrite that future, and there could be a better way.
Our Imperfect Present
